A teammate is down

The 8 October developer update announced Sewing Kits for revival. Check the item name and prompt in your installed build.

  1. Confirm the held item is named Sewing Kit.
  2. Point at the fallen Critter and read any contextual tooltip.
  3. Follow the interaction shown by your current build. If none appears, use the missing-prompt checks below.

A teammate is alive but hurt

The developer assigned healing to syringes. A launch-era tooltip names one of these items Poppy-gel Injector and describes healing yourself or a friend; see the dated video reference below.

  1. Read the held item’s exact name and description; the launch-era Poppy-gel Injector tooltip describes healing.
  2. Check who the item can target before using it.
  3. Do not assume that a healing item can bring back a dead teammate.

There is no usable prompt

A missing prompt alone does not establish a bug or its cause.

What the sources establish

In “Moving Forward Based on Feedback” (8 October, US date), the developer announced the revival/healing role change and contextual item help when pointing at a dead Critter. This is the basis for the item distinction below, not a firsthand gameplay test.

01 Why does an older guide use a different item?

Check when the advice was recorded. The 8 October announcement assigns revival to Sewing Kits and healing to syringes; it is not a measurement of every later build. If the tooltip in your installed game differs, record its exact wording and build instead of assuming the older instruction applies.

02 Where can I find a Sewing Kit?

This guide does not establish a guaranteed spawn or a fixed route. Check what the team is actually carrying before sending someone back to search. A useful callout is: “Down near [landmark]; does anyone have a Sewing Kit?” Add a known hazard if you can see one. That is a suggested communication format, not a claim that the route is safe.

03 Which button do I press to revive?

Use the interaction displayed for the held item and target in your current build. The developer announced contextual help when aiming at a dead Critter, but the reviewed source does not establish a universal keyboard or controller button. If no prompt appears, use the missing-prompt checks at the top of this guide.

04 What does the Poppy-gel Injector do?

In Banden’s walkthrough published 21 October, the tooltip at 3:53 labels the syringe-shaped item “Poppy-gel Injector” and describes restoring health to yourself or a friend. This identifies a healing item in that footage; it does not demonstrate a dead teammate being revived. The launch announcement uses “Poppy-gel Injection”. Check the name and tooltip in your installed build: the 28 October patch rebalanced all items.

05 If the item does not work

Separate “no prompt appears” from “a prompt appears but the action fails.” Include whether this was the tutorial or a normal run, host or joining player, item name, target state, displayed input and observed result. The report builder can organize this information for the developer’s bug board.

06 What this guide cannot confirm

A complete current-build revival sequence has not been verified here. No universal use key, body-part requirement, revival duration, restored HP, self-revive method or invulnerability period is established. The linked Poppy-gel tooltip is evidence of a healing description, not a measured revival result.

07 Does health refill after a shift?

Yes. Patch 2 says that returning from the facility after a shift fully restores health and flashlight battery. That is an after-shift recovery rule, not a claim that health refills during a shift or that returning revives a dead teammate. For an injured teammate still inside the facility, use the current healing-item tooltip.

Limits of this guide

The Sewing Kit role comes from the 8 October developer announcement; the Poppy-gel description was read in 21 October creator footage. Patch 2 rebalanced items on 28 October. We have not tested the current revival interaction in game; no fixed controls, healing amount or spawn locations are supplied.
